Grey Eagle Warrior Challenge

Introduction

The Grey Eagle Warrior Challenge is our biggest fund raising event of the year. Our primary goal with this event is twofold:

1)  to raise funds that help send veterans from the panhandle to Washington D.C. to see the memorials that were built in their honor. (Nebraska Mid-American Honor Flight Inc.)

2) to raise funds for scholarships that go to veterans either living in the panhandle or are from the panhandle. (click here to apply)

While this is the primary goal of the event, it has grown to become so much more. Each year we are excited to see more and more of the community come out. We have teams who run the race as a team building opportunity. We have teams made up of family members who want an opportunity to do something challenging together. Many show up just to watch and show their support. Each year, we have vendors show up to serve food, drinks, or showcase their own local business. We also set up a kid’s course that the children love to run.

What Is It?

The best way to describe the Grey Eagle Warrior Challenge is to say that is a 5k run with obstacles. The race can be run by a four-man team, or as an individual. We also set up different classes for participation. Participants can compete in the entire event, limit themselves to only the obstacles, or even just try out certain obstacles for fun. The obstacles include a wall, a rope crawl, a cargo net, a low crawl, a litter carry, a rope swing over a mud pit, and a block drag.
